SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
ACCEPTED SUBMISSIONS
Three types of articles are accepted as submissions to the journal:
Formal Report- Students with established research can submit a paper containing original research, in a format similar to that of a professional academic journal. The suggested contents are Abstract,Introduction, Methods, Results, Analysis, Discussion, Conclusion, References, and Figures.
Short Report: Students can submit short research summaries; including preliminary data and prediction of final results and figures. Short reports can also be information on emerging fields, information on new grants or research plans, as well as field summaries.
Feature Papers: The advisory board will select individuals and request for them to write a feature article or overall field summary. This
includes professors, industry professionals, or other specialists in a field. Interviews with guest speakers and professors will also be included as feature papers. If you are interested in writing a feature paper, please contact urjiit@iit.edu.
ELIGIBILITY
To publish with the IIT Undergraduate Research Journal, students must be either:
Current IIT undergraduate student who conducted research at either IIT or elsewhere, including national laboratories, other universities, government agencies, or in industry.
Undergraduate students (or high-school students) from other universities conducting research under the guidance of an IIT professor
FORMATTING
After an article has been accepted, it will be reformatted for online publication. For initial submissions, please follow these guidelines:
All submissions must be in an editable format (no PDFs).
If submitting with MS Word, the maximum length excluding figures is five pages, 12 point font, 1.15 spaced.

All figures should be clear and relevant to work, and mentioned in the body of text.
In-text citations should be superscript number references
List of references should be numbered in alphabetical order and formatted as such: LastName, First Initial. Title. Journal Name,Volume, Page Numbers, (Year)
Undergraduate journals are not in the business of driving the field or making novel claims. What URJIIT looks for is careful argumentation and close attention to methodology and analysis.
